• Describe the history of MRSA.
• Recognize the emergence of MRSA as a common cause of community-acquired skin infections.
• Apply appropriate empiric therapy for skin infections that may involve MRSA.
• Summarize how rapid testing could influence treatment of skin infections and isolation decisions.
• Propose to patients methods to prevent MRSA infection.
