Course Description
The educational applications available to medical educators on-line through videosharing websites has the potential to dramatically change how video is used in health science education. However to date, relatively few medical educators have taken up the tools and strategic advantages offered by Web 2.0 or the upcoming Web 3.0. In this program, Dennis McNeilly, PsyD will describe how web-based software was used to create a psychiatry video learning unit for an M2 Psychiatry Behavioral Science course applying readily accessible psychiatry-oriented videos from YouTube and other shared video websites. In addition to discussing the educational utility of video-sharing websites in creating learning units in the psychiatry medical student curriculum, possible options for independent learning and assessment units in student education will be explored. Sheila Wrobel, JD will also be available to discuss the legal implications of this type of media use.
